The AA is helping reduce repair-related emissions, improve parts availability and keep vehicles on the road for longer for one of the UK’s largest electric delivery fleets.
The breakdown provider has expanded its use of quality-assured recycled vehicle parts through a new initiative with Royal Mail and supplier Trents.
The use of recycled parts through the AA's Accident Management service reflects a growing focus on reducing environmental impact across vehicle operations by Royal Mail.
With continued pressure on parts supply chains, fleet operators are increasingly seeking alternative repair solutions that can help control costs and reduce vehicle off-road time.
Recycled parts will now be used across Royal Mail's accident-damaged vehicle repairs where appropriate, supporting the organisation's wider sustainability goals.
Overseen by David Bartlett, head of accident management at the AA, the programme forms part of a growing move towards circular repair practices.
By combining electric vehicle adoption with the use of recycled OEM parts, organisations can reduce emissions across the vehicle lifecycle while supporting Scope 3 emissions reduction objectives, says the AA.
Bartlett said: “Fleet operators are under growing pressure to reduce emissions, control costs and keep vehicles on the road.
“Working with Royal Mail and Trents allows us to tackle two key challenges: reducing Scope 3 emissions associated with vehicle repairs and improving access to parts during ongoing supply chain disruption.
“The result is lower costs, improved vehicle availability and a more circular approach to repair.”
He added: “Supporting one of the UK's largest electric delivery fleets also gives us a unique insight into the future of sustainable fleet management.
“Repair and maintenance will play an increasingly important role alongside vehicle electrification as organisations continue their decarbonisation journeys.”
