Yesterday’s match was a true testament to the resilience and attitude of the Layer Colts U10’s. Despite the miserable weather, not one complaint was heard – a credit to the boys and their growing maturity.
What stood out most was seeing so many of the lessons discussed in training put into practice on the pitch. Players like Mark, Jake, James, and Freddie really shone, making sensible decisions and consistently putting the team first. That’s exactly what we want to see – smart choices and teamwork at the heart of their game.
The scoreline was impressive, but we’re not getting carried away. What impressed us was how they used those opportunities: clever movement, loads of passing, and letting the ball do the work.
Special mention goes to David, who only played a half but still managed to score his 9th, 10th, and 11th goals of the season while operating in central or defensive midfield. He’s now the third player to hit double figures this season – a fantastic achievement!
