A new report indicates a significant increase in the use of car hire among UK public sector organisations, such as local authorities, health trusts and central government. The growth demonstrates the success of the partnership with Government Procurement Services, designed to address long-standing attitudes toward "grey fleet" use in the public sector. An increase in the number of rental days also suggests public sector employees are proactively seeking the use of a hire car as opposed to driving their own vehicles with arranged mileage reimbursement. The Government Procurement Services tick several boxes, including reducing the administrative burden of self-regulated mileage reclaim schemes and the reduction of carbon footprints.
